HOEKERSINGEL, ROTTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS
The first Ultrabridge built by FDN.
The first Ultrabridge has been successfully built in Rotterdam in 2012. The total length of the bridge is 19 m and width is 3,4 m. The whole bridge is made from only 9 m3 of Ultra High-Strength concrete C170/200. The bionic shape of the railing has been designed by famous architect Chris Bosse. The originality and innovation resulted in awards such as “Betonprijs 2013”(Dutch Concrete Technology award 2013) and the FiB Special Mention Award for outstanding concrete structures.
FDN engineering has built successfully the first pilot Ultrabridge and more assignments are expected in coming months. Unique structural design opens doors to an enormously large market.

The Ultrabridges with new designs
FDN has been assigned to optimize the designs for existing bridges with various shapes of railing in UHPFRC. The advantages of this modular system gives architectural freedom. The pattern of the railing struts is not fixed and practically any shape is possible.

This optimized design counts with even thinner railing elements so that the whole bridge looks slender
